Klitschko's Plan: Revisit Valuev Talks, Not Go After Haye

Once WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is finished with his next title defense, on October 16 in Germany against Shannon Briggs, he won't sit at the table with WBA champion David Haye. Instead Vitali wants to revisit discussions with Nikolai Valuev for a fight. Vitali tried to make a fight with Valuev for the last few months. Valuev rejected an original offer of $2.5 million dollars. He then turned down $1.5 million dollars but later agreed to accept the amount. After the two fighters agreed to the purse, they couldn't agree on the revenue split from the German and Russian television networks.

"All of Europe has been waiting for this match to happen," Klitschko said.

Dealing with Briggs will come first. The former heavyweight champion from American has promised to knock Klitschko out in 30-seconds of the first round. Klitschko laughed at the prediction.

"The Americans will be cheering for him, because Shannon was the last world heavyweight champion from the United States. Let's see how serious his intentions are to send me into retirement, and how well he prepares for our meeting," Klitschko said.
